Create and Validate New IEPD

Creating a NIEM IEPD allows you to assemble all pieces together of a NIEM IEPD, including the artifacts and metadata. The catalog and metadata files will be created automatically from the information you submit. The IEPD that you created is stored in your account and can be modified at any time (See Manage My NIEM IEPD below for more information.)

• Click on the Create and Validate IEPD link on the IEPD menu. (Note: you will be asked to login to your account. You can create an account if you don't already have one.)
• Once logged in, you will be guided through creating the NIEM IEPD. This includes uploading any artifacts you may have and filling in the metadata.
• After completing the previous steps, you will be given the option to validate the IEPD. This checks if the IEPD meets the minimum NIEM IEPD requirements. An IEPD can still be created even if it does not meet the minimum NIEM IEPD requirements.
• The IEPD can now be created by clicking the "Create IEPD" button. The IEPD will automatically be saved into your account.
• The IEPD can be modified at any time. See Manage My NIEM IEPD below for more information.

Upload and Validate Existing IEPD

Uploading a NIEM IEPD allows you to upload a NIEM conformant IEPD that you have previously created. The IEPD that you uploaded is stored in your account and can be modified at any time (See Manage My NIEM IEPD below for more information.)

• Click on the Upload IEPD link on the IEPD menu. (Note: you will be asked to login to your account. You can create an account if you don't already have one.)
• Once logged in, you will be asked to upload your NIEM conformant IEPD. Note, that only NIEM IEPDs can be automatically uploaded.
• After uploading the NIEM IEPD, you will be shown a series of screens where you can verify/update the artifacts and metadata.
• After completing the previous steps, you will be given the option to validate the IEPD. This checks if the IEPD meets the minimum NIEM IEPD requirements. An IEPD can still be uploaded even if it does not meet the minimum NIEM IEPD requirements.
• The IEPD can now be uploaded by clicking the "Upload IEPD" button. The IEPD will automatically be saved into your account.
• The IEPD can be deleted at any time. See Delete NIEM IEPD below for more information.

Save My NIEM IEPD

Saving your IEPD allows you to store your IEPD for future editing (See Manage My NIEM IEPD below for more information.)

• Create or upload an IEPD. (See the sections above Create My NIEM IEPD and Upload My NIEM IEPD for more information.)
• Once the IEPD has been created or uploaded, the IEPD will automatically be saved in your workspace, My IEPDs.

Share My NIEM IEPD

Sharing your IEPD allows the public to view your IEPD. You can choose to share all, some, or none of the artifacts of your IEPD. If you do not share your IEPD, your IEPD will only be visible to you. Sharing is turned off by default. You must perform the steps below in order to share your IEPD with the community.

• Before sharing an IEPD, you must first create or upload an IEPD. (See the sections above Create My NIEM IEPD and Upload My NIEM IEPD for more information.)
• Once you have created the IEPD and are logged into your account, click on the My IEPDs menu link.
• Click on the NIEM IEPD you wish to share.
• Click the "Edit" link.
• Click the "Change visibility/sharing" link.
• Under the section "IEPD Visibility", click the "Shared" radio button.
• Check all the artifacts that will be shared with the IEPD. Other users will only be allowed to view the artifacts that are shared.
• Click the "Update Visibility" button.

Register My NIEM IEPD

Registering your IEPD with other sites allows you to store information from your IEPD in different locations so users in the community have more than one location to find your IEPD. Instructions for registering your IEPD with more sites will be added in the future.

Register with OJP IEPD Clearinghouse

• First create or upload an IEPD. (See the sections above Create My NIEM IEPD and Upload My NIEM IEPD for more information.)
• Once you have created or uploaded a NIEM IEPD, click on the My IEPDs menu link.
• Click on the NIEM IEPD you wish to register. Note that this IEPD should be shared before it is registered in the IEPD Clearinghouse so that the IEPD Clearinghouse can link back to your IEPD. (See the section above Share My NIEM IEPD for more information.)
• Click the "Register" link. You will be given a screen with a link to your IEPD that can be submitted to the IEPD Clearinghouse.
• Click the "Register With Clearinghouse" link.
• A new window will pop-up displaying the IEPD Clearinghouse. Click the "Submit IEPD Infomration" link.
• Fill in the form and download IEPD Submission Template. In this document, a field is labeled "Web Site Link" (or similar). Enter in the link that you were given by the IEPD tool.
• Fill in the remainder of the information and submit the document.

Manage My NIEM IEPD

Once you have created or uploaded an IEPD, you can perform various management operations on your IEPD.

Edit Metadata

• Login to your account.
• Click on the My IEPDs menu link.
• Click on the NIEM IEPD you wish to edit metadata for.
• Click the "Edit" link.
• Click the "Edit metadata" link.
• You will now be guided through a wizard where you can edit the metadata for your IEPD. Follow the steps and click the "Commit Changes" button in order to update the IEPD metadata.

Add/Remove Artifacts

• Login to your account.
• Click on the My IEPDs menu link.
• Click on the NIEM IEPD you wish to edit metadata for.
• Click the "Edit" link.
• Click the "Add/remove artifacts" link.
• You will now be guided through a wizard where you can edit the metadata for your IEPD. Follow the steps and click the "Commit Changes" button in order to update the IEPD metadata. Note that you will also be guided through the metadata for your IEPD, as well.

Edit Subset/Wantlist

This feature allows you to edit your subset and/or wantlist in your IEPD. Any changes you make will be automatically reflected in your IEPD.

• Login to your account.
• Click on the My IEPDs menu link.
• Click on the NIEM IEPD you wish to edit metadata for.
• Click the "Edit" link.
• Click the "edit" link next to the wantlist or subset you want to edit. Note that once you select a wantlist or subset, you will have option to associate a subset or subset respectively with it so that it too will be automatically updated.
• Proceed to edit your wantlist and/or subset. Once you are done with any modifications to your wantlist and/or subset, click the "Save to IEPD" link located at the top of the wantlist view. Follow the onscreen steps to complete the process.

Share My IEPD

• See the section above Share My NIEM IEPD for more information.

Delete My IEPD

• Login to your account.
• Click on the My IEPDs menu link.
• Click on the NIEM IEPD you wish to delete.
• Click the "Edit" link.
• Click the "Delete IEPD" link.
• Before deleting the IEPD, it is recommended that you download the IEPD for your records. You can then upload this IEPD again at any time. A link to download your IEPD is located on this screen.
• Click the "Delete IEPD" button to delete your IEPD.

Search for IEPD

Search allows you to discover IEPDs on this site and to find NIEM IEPDs from other sites. The search will soon be capable displaying NIEM IEPDs from the IEPD Clearinghouse. Other sites will be added in the future.
